More accurate labeling of sports news based on coverage
Ofcom should require the BBC and all other public service broadcasters to describe their sports news bulletins accurately - as 'Men's Sports News'- if that is all they cover, to avoid giving the misleading impression that they have covered all the sports news, and to make it clear to listeners and viewers that women's sport is not being reported.
Once this discrimination has been made transparent, the Regular should oblige public service broadcasters to ensure that women's sport is covered as often, during the average day, as men's sport.
Ofcom should also point out to broadcasters that having a woman presenting the 'Men's Sports News' does not make the reporting any more inclusive.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Responsibility for what is broadcast on television and radio rests with the broadcasters and the organisations which regulate broadcasting - the Office of Communications (OFCOM), the BBC Trust and the Welsh Fourth Channel Authority (S4C). They are independent of the Government.
