Petition Action

Make manifesto promises at General Elections legally binding

Additional Information

A petition to make manifesto promises clearer in meaning and legally binding in effect.

To build greater transparency and improve democracy in what manifestos must mean to the people.

To form a legal entitlement for voters to see what they vote upon delivered by a new government during the term of that government.

A coalition only has the mandate to carry out the votes of the people in selecting policies they wish to see introduced at the time of an election.

Will provide a legal assurance that no party can subvert our democracy by setting out policies and strategies the people do not support.
