Petition Action

Abolish the Supreme Court and re-create Appellate Committee

Additional Information

The Supreme Court was established to try to undertake a (nonsense) separation of powers system under a former Labour Prime Minister.

There is also benefit in having the House of Lords, or the Appellate Committee of the House as the highest court in the land:
- It would be cheaper
- it would allow people to feel that there appeal is being made directly to Parliament
- it would allow the House to protect the judges from government interference
- it would protect the judges from being subject to negotiating for moneys for the Supreme Court
- it would preserve that Parliament is supreme and not a court.

We, the petitioners call on Her Majesty's Government to abolish the Supreme Court and re-create either the Appellate Committee of the House of Lords (on a statutory basis) or the House itself (as it was formerly) as the highest judiciary body in the United Kingdom.
