Investigation into Football Association

Additional Information

Independent panel, how independent, FA never loose a case. Referees inconsistency, if club comments they are heavily fined, if a club appeals a red card player gets a longer ban. Ref's decision can mean club relegated or manager loosing a job. Supporters treated with disrespect, sent to grounds with no safety certificate, points being deducted for boardroom mismanagement.
I would like our MPs to open up this closed shop so fans and clubs can then respect their decisions. Main petition is investigate FA and Referees

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Refereeing in English professional football is the responsibility of Professional Game Match Officials Ltd, an organisation run jointly by the Football Association, the Premier League and the Football League. In this way referees are independently appointed and assessed. In addition, the football authorities, working alongside the Gambling Commission, undertake a huge amount of work to ensure the integrity of the game is upheld, and it remains free from corruption.

Professional sport is run autonomous from government. It will, therefore, be for the FA to decide what action is taken.
