Employers required to pay professional fees
This petition calls upon the government to make it a statutory requirement for an employer who requires a worker to register with a regulatory, professional or other body, for the employer to pay the associated costs of registration.
This would apply not only to public sector workers who currently pay out of their own pocket to be registered at the demand of the employer, but also private sector workers where the employer demands registration.
Currently nurses and other health professionals pay high fees simply to be on a register to protect the public as required by the employer. Not all NHS groups are required to register however, so the current scheme is unfair. The employer should be made to pay all fees associated with registration where the employer demands such registration.
