George Entwistle should not have received a year's salary (public money) for a job he did for less than 2 months
Mr Entwistle resigned from the post of DG of the BBC at the weekend. He was entitled to 6 months pay but has left with 12. As the BBC is funded by the public/licence fee, I do not see why the BBC has used our money in this way. It seems as if Mr Entwistle is getting a 'reward' for leaving and/or doing a poor job for a very short period.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
The BBC is independent of Government. This is a matter for the Executive Board of the BBC and the BBC Trust.
It is the responsibility of the BBC Trust to ensure that the BBC delivers financial efficiency and hold the Executive to account for its performance in delivering value for money.
