Require commercial property developers to offer a percentage of available office floor space to SMEs and Start-Ups
When it comes to residential property, homebuilders and developers are required by law to make a certain percentage of any new-build properties available to social or affordable housing.
I'm calling on the Government to make the same principle applicable to commercial property, to encourage enterprise.
SMEs and Start-Ups are often priced out of competitive business locations by expensive office space.
I would like to see a legal requirement that for any new office development (or redevelopment), the developer is required to make a minimum % of floor space available for SMEs and StartUps.
This would facilitate enterprise in commercially advantageous areas and prevent the isolation of startups to less accessible parts of the UK's towns and cities.
