NHS Bereavement Services & Training
We would like the Government to look at what services and resources are offered and are available to bereaved families especially those who have lost a child or children.
Generally very little support is offered, some parents leaving hospitals without their child and not knowing where to turn for help nd on asking for it are told they cannot be helped due to cuts or huge waiting lists.
We would suggest better training for NHS staff who have to deal with bereaved parents and families in both how to talk to them and what services are available to them.
Information packs available on where to find help for families offered to or sent out to families and ongoing support for a specified time, which can be extended depending on individual's personal needs.
We would like a review of the services offered and would hope that a standardised service could be offered across the UK.
