Let the UK join the list of independent states without armed forces
Education, health and other public services are never truly prioritised.
If military spending were to be taken out of the equation, perhaps they could be.
In the unlikely event of invasion, an educated population would stand a better chance of dealing with the situation imaginatively.
Though we might no longer have the ability to intervene in other conflicts, we would at least, with a more healthy and better educated populace, be setting a responsible example to the rest of the world, to an extent that the UK might finally deserve some recognition for being a "progressive" country.
A global agreement to "scale down" military resources and reassess each country's individual needs could bring huge benefits to us all.
