Additional Information

That any fettering of the freedom of the press, by Statute, whether classed as "Statutory underpinning or otherwise" must be resisted .

The government should therefore create a robust independent watchdog for the press and this together with better enforcement of existing law will protect those who need protection but ensure the survival of a fundamental liberty for future generations
