Do not legislate to regulate the press
Following publication of the report by Lord Justice Leveson, there are calls to have some form of "Statutory under-pinning" of a system of "independent" regulation of the press.
We, the undersigned, believe that freedom of the press is of paramount importance and that no law should be passed which seeks to regulate or restrict the ability of journalists operating in any and all media to seek out the truth and publish it, thus presenting those in positions of power, authority and influence to public scrutiny.
