Deficit savings
In a time when the coalition is failing and the Government is desperate to raise funds to reduce the deficit, I propose that we should get tougher on prisons and prisoners.
Why don't the Government withdraw any privelages, that prisoners currently have and replace them with 2 basic meals a day (soup & porridge), a cell and a WC, not only would they be raising a huge amount of money, but also this would be very popular with voters.
We have been told that on average it costs £42,000 to keep a prisoner each year, that is more than the average family earns in a year.
This would be such an easy fix to raise extra capital, take pressure of tax payers, gain millions of extra votes and also make prisons less cosy and inviting to repeat offenders.
