Petition Action

Abolish the Greater Manchester Combined Authority

Additional Information

We are calling for the abolition of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority as an unwanted, expensive and undemocratic tier of government we do not need.

We want all powers of this bureaucratic "quango" given to the ten districts, within the "Greater Manchester" boundaries.

In doing so, we also call for as many powers as possible to be returned to town councils, parish councils and urban district councils which were abolished in 1974, to ensure local services, villages and towns are managed by local people for the benefit of their communities.
