End Child benefit for free school meals and unifroms to end child poverty

Child Benefit is a recent introduction which many see as encouraging larger families amongst those without the economic, social or practical skills to properly raise children.

End it entirely in favour of a system which provides children in state education - i.e. those from the least economically well off families - with free school meals and uniform throughout their time in non-elective eduction.

This would help to ensure that the main aim of such a benefit the health and wellbeing of children was explicitly met by ensuring spend is on the children rather than alcohol, drugs or other inappropraite ways in more chaotic families.

Ensuring children are in reciept of decent baseline nutrition would also help them in their studies and hopefully reduce ill health and related costs.
