No to Severn Barrage proposal
We petition the Government not to grant permission for a Barrage across the Severn.
The impact of any Barrage would be devastating to the estuary’s environment; especially its wildlife and birds.
The Barrage will cost over £20 billion and would almost certainly be another burden on the tax payer.
There are better and much cheaper ways of harnessing the renewable energy of the Severn without damaging the estuary.
The dramatic changes to maritime access the Barrage would bring would put at risk the viability of the ports and shipping industries of the area which so vital to the region as a whole.
