No pay rise for MPs
Having read recently in numerous newspapers that approximately 70% of MPs feel they are underpaid, and believe they are entitled to anything from £12000 to £31000 extra salary per annum, and in light of the current economic climate, resulting in the strict public sector wage limits being enforced and a below-inflation increase of benefits, we completely oppose any proposal to raise the salary of Members of Parliament on the grounds that it would demonstrate to ordinary people a clear lack of empathy and therefore cause irreparable harm to the already-damaged reputations of British politicians.
