Council tax based on number of occupants not house value
As the majority of council tax goes towards water supply and waste management, and has no relevance to the size or value of a house, shouldn’t the amount payable per household be based on the number of occupants?
I appreciate there is a single persons discount, of which I was previously claiming before I recently married and am now starting a family, but I still don’t think the costs are spread fairly within a community.
I believe that all households should pay the same, with additional supplements for every occupant over 16, regardless of the size, value or location of the property as it has no relevance. Still incorporating single persons discount which could / should actually be increased.
