Minimum Life Experience for Prospective MPs
MPs are elected to Parliament primarily to represent the views of their electorate.
At present any 18 year old UK Citizen has the right to stand for election even though they may never have worked full time or even lived in the area they seek to represent.
This e-petition is asserting that to truely represent their constituants a prospective MP must have lived in the community they seek to represent for a minimum of 10 years preceding the date of election and have held a full time job for at least the same period. Only then can they reasonably claim to have had sufficient life experience to represent the views of those who elect them.
They should also be required to post their CV on the internet prior to any election.
You can't sign this petition because it is now closed. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
