Encourage or require shops to stock misshapen fruit and veg
It is estimated that a full 50% of food produced globally is thrown away - 2 billion tonnes per year - and a large proportion of this is due to strict guidelines on the appearance of fruit and veg. Supermarkets reject entire crops of food simply because of size, colour or shape issues.
Encouraging or forcing supermarkets to stock misshapen or differently-coloured produce will have a dramatic positive effect on food and water waste, chemical pollution, the landscape, local/small farmers, the UK farming industry and many other areas, and is so simple to enact!
