2014 EU Referendum
The Prime Minister announced on 23rd January 2013 that the Government would give the British people a referendum on its EU membership in the early part of the next parliament.
We the undersigned believe that the Prime Minister does not currently have a mandate from the British people to either renegotiate Britain’s relationship with the EU or its withdrawal from it.
We therefore call on the Government to avoid years of uncertainty by bringing forward a referendum in 2014, with 3 options – withdrawal from the EU, renegotiate our relationship with the EU or maintain the status quo, so that the Prime Minister can proceed with the authority of the British people in his negotiations with the EU regarding Britain’s future relationship.
