Restoration of Capital Punisment

Additional Information

Incarceration of convicted murderers obliges tax-payers (including relatives of the victims of course) to support them for having committed a crime which has deprived another person of life .
The advent of DNA testing makes it almost impossible to convict the wrong person but for the few contentious cases sentencing could still be delayed pending their resolution.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.

You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.

Thank you for your e-petition on the issue of capital punishment.    Following the launch of the site, some duplicate e-petitions were erroneously added to the site.

Following a review, this e-petition has been identified as a duplicate of an existing e-petition (petition.parliament.uk/archived/petitions/138) as set out in the Terms and Conditions.  It has been closed to new signatures and moved to the 'Rejected' category visible on the site.

It is not possible to transfer signatures automatically from a rejected e-petition to an alternative, however if you have signed an e-petition which has subsequently been rejected, you are able to add your signature to an existing open e-petition

Apologies for any inconvenience caused.
