Petition Action

Cut the Red Tape for Disabled Adults Who Want To Live Independently

Additional Information

Adults with Disabilities that want to live independently in their community Local Authorities carry out a Needs Assessment.

This means carers of disabled adults have to explain to them that they must wait until a 'cost' for their care is calculated.

This means that disabled adults are left overnight alone in their home, with electronic monitoring devices for company and reassurance because the 'indicative budget' restricts the amount of support they can afford.

I ask that Local Government funding does not mean that once a care needs assessment is made that overnight care is the first thing to be removed..
