First aid to be in the National Curriculum

Additional Information

This is to cover the lack of knowledge across the country in basic First Aid skills.
The skills taught would vary depending on the age from dialing 999 to performing CPR.

The results from this would mean that if basic first aid is performed and the casualty is helped without the need for an ambulance it would free up more crew to attend to life threatening emergencies.

In other countries, such as Norway, where First Aid is taught in schools the survival rate in cardiac arrest victims is Higher in the UK. This is due to the fact that the vast majority of the population know and are willing to use their CPR skills.

The BHF and Ambulance NHS trusts around the UK have shown the benefits for early resusitation being provided by CPR.

It is recognised by every youth group in the UK and taught at the Youth groups so why is it not taught in schools?

It is a skill we hope they will never use, but vital skill to have just in case.
