Bank Phishing Emails

Phishing emails attempting to get bank details are big business and pray on those who are vulnerable to give over their information, often after identifying a phoney threat and requiring them to re-identify themselves in some way.

The government should enact legislation requiring UK email service providers to completely filter out obvious fakes before they ever reach an end-user. The service provider could simply filter the mail by requiring all emails from financial instituions to come from servers registered to that insituition and block the rest.

Hopefully legislation of this sort would start copy-cat legislation in other countries.
