Petition Action

Protect the identity of those accused of crimes

Additional Information

We, the undersigned, call on the government to stop the publication of the identities of people accused of crimes until their guilt is proven:

· Friendships and careers are ruined by such publications.

· Being branded a criminal before a fair trial is unjust and leaves the accused severely mentally distressed.

We urge the government to stop newspapers from this unjust "naming and shaming" and to implement a serious penalty for ignoring this directive.
