Protect your community’s right to influence and limit new property development
Your town or village in England has a legal right to manage its own growth by creating a Neighbourhood Development Plan, but all around the country large new developments are being rushed through the approval process before communities have the chance to finish their plans.
Our petition calls for a limit on the number of new residences approved each year in places where a Local Plan and/or a Neighbourhood Plan is under development.
We propose that new residence approvals each year should not exceed 1.5% of the number of existing houses in any locality (using official 2010 housing figures) until such Plans are adopted, unless the residents of the specific town or village consent to more.
Please join us in calling on the government to protect our towns and villages, and stop unsustainable, unmanaged growth.
