One day off for charity
We, the undersigned, call on the government to introduce legislation to give all workers one day of holiday entitlement per year for the benefit of a UK Registered Charity. This is in addition to current holiday entitlements.
The entitlement to be used in the following ways – and in all cases agreed by the worker and confirmed in writing to the workers employer by the participating UK Registered Charity.
1. To give a one day holiday to work for UK Registered Charity.
2. To give a one day holiday for the worker to prepare for work assisting a charity with work, consultancy, fund raising, or participation in a fund raising activity.
3. To pass a day’s wages for a day worked with the agreement of the worker to a UK Registered Charity.
4. Any other way that can be reasonably agreed between worker, employer and a UK Registered Charity.
Let’s go with the governments “one nation” and “big society” agenda and give everyone a real feel good factor by passing this into law!
