raise school starting age
5 years old is too young for children to commence formal education. Our educational system is often compared unfavorably to the Scandinavian countries where the school starting age is 6, or sometimes 7 years. In view of the impending shortage of school placements this seems a good time invoke this - it will take pressure off the the Department of Education whilst, at the same time, improving learning chances for our children.
