Prevent sweatshop products entering the UK retail chain
We would like to see a law proscribing the retail of products made in sweatshops in the developing world, facilitated by these steps:
a) A legal definition of 'sweatshop' and related terms
b) A ban on the import and sale of sweatshop-produced clothing in the UK
c) Help for businesses to adjust to more ethical sourcing.
d) All of these to be achieved through consultation with the Fairtrade Foundation, and the campaign group No Sweat, and the charity War on Want, as examples of suitable groups to advise.
