Petition Action

Petition to replace the statue of Harlod Larwood with a statue of a Miner in Kirkby-in-Ashfield town centre.

Additional Information

The statue of Harlod Larwood in Kirkby town centre is pointless. He abandoned the country, left for Australia and never returned. As the town was built on the coal mining industry, and most of the towns people descended from miners, it would be much more appropriate and appreciated to celebrate them.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

One for the local authority. However, statues are usually privately funded - there is nothing to stop individuals/organisations from seeking permission to erect one.
