Minimum allowance for people in residential care
There should be a legal entitlement to a minimum allowance for anyone in residential care in England or Wales.
Many elderly people have their houses, savings and private pension taken and are left with less than £30 per week to spend on toiletries, outings, hairdressing cigarettes, snacks etc. Some people are spending much of this on sanitary towels alone and cannot then go on trips out or get their hair cut.
Please give them a minimum allowance so they can live their last few years in dignity.
