Philpotts sentence
That the Government via the Attorney General appeal the sentence decision of 17 years in the case of Mick and Mairead Phillpott's conviction for manslaughter. By their actions they caused the death of 6 children and a sentence of 17 years (of which they may only serve half) is not enough. That equates to just over 2 years for each child's life. What message does this send out to others. The sentence should be life with parole only considered after 20 years served.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Sentences that appear to be unduly lenient cannot be referred through the E-Petitions website.
If you believe a sentence given in a Crown Court appears to be very low, or unduly lenient, anyone can contact the Attorney General's office asking for the sentence to be reviewed as long as it is within 28 days of sentencing. It also only takes one person to make such a request.
In the case of Phillpot, Phillpot and Mosley, the Attorney General’s Office has already requested the papers from the Crown Prosecution so one of the Law Officers can decide whether or not to refer the sentences to Court of Appeal as being unduly lenient.
