Label intensively farmed meat products clearly.
As with boxed eggs, which must be labelled with method of production, e.g. "Eggs from caged hens", all animal-based food products should be labelled, allowing consumers to know, without confusion, whether they are buying meat or dairy products from intensively farmed animals.
The government should debate the issue openly and, if it is agreed that the only party benefiting from not labelling such produce clearly is the intensive farming industry, then Defra and the UK government should begin the introduction of labelling legislation accordingly and lead on the matter within the EU.
