No State Participation in Thatcher Funeral
The British government is not the property of those currently in office and should also be run with regard for those who did not prosper under the late Margaret Thatcher, who connect her with destructive acts executed with a brutal glee, and who see her as the midwife if not the mother to much that is now wrong with the world.
If the resources of State are conspicuously used to honour such a person, many Britons will recognise an act of spiteful gloating, and will have reason to feel personally insulted and wronged.
It would be wrong, therefore, for the State (as such) - or connected organisations like the BBC - to support, fund, endorse, or show approval toward the late Prime Minister very much more than for other Prime Ministers who have deceased in recent times, such as Edward Heath or James Callaghan.
