Reform the Prison System
Reform sentencing and prisons to better reflect the public views and to keep the public better protected from criminals.
Longer sentencing for serious crimes such as murder, rape, theft etc. such as a life sentence, where life means life in prison.
Take away all the perks of prison, such as television, pool tables etc. so that it is a place of punishment and reform, not relaxation.
Further to this, criminals could be put to work in core areas such as the dwindling agriculture sector of this country, meaning that they would pay back to the taxpayer the cost of keeping them.
These actions would cut crime, save money, and go some way to making the country more self-sufficient.
