Petition Action

Stop Scottish university fee discrimination

Additional Information

We, the undersigned, call on the government to stop the discrimination against Northern Irish, Welsh and English students in Scottish universities, on the following grounds:

-Neither Scottish students nor non-British EU students have to pay fees at Scottish universities

-Northern Irish, Welsh and English students are charged fees of up to £9,000

-In August 2011, nearly 16,000 EU students were attending Scottish education establishments, costing the taxpayer £75m a year

We urge the government to stop allowing this clear discrimination against three of its own peoples and ensure that everyone, regardless of where they are born, pays the same for the same university education.
