Petition Action

100,000 signatures is too few

Additional Information

In a country of 61 million people, the threshold of 100,000 signatures for an e-petition to trigger a debate is too low.

In the age of social networking, all sorts of frivolous campaigns could reach that level and waste parliamentary time.

The government should raise the required number of signatures to 110,000.
