To end discrimination against women in the peerage
We, the undersigned, call on the Government to end discrimination against women in the peerage by allowing the first-born child of any hereditary peer to inherit their title regardless of gender, as the Succession to the Crown Act 2013 has achieved for the Royal Family.
We support the work of Mary Macleod MP, and Lord Lucas's Bill presently before the House of Lords (http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/bills/lbill/2013-2014/0012/2014012.pdf) to bring about gender equality in the peerage and baronetage.
