That Parliament investigate the fairness of the structure of Standing charges
Public utility suppliers levy a standing charge to cover the installation and ongoing maintenance of the service they are providing to the end user.
At present the end user has no way of knowing how these charges are broken down and therefore no ability to assess whether these charges actually represent true value for money and encompass the actual cost of provision.
The public are constantly told by utility suppliers that unit charges have to increase to provide future investment in service infrastructure so why does the standing charge need to increase or actually exist
