Patrick Mercer should stand down as an MP with immediate effect if found to have broken any rules on lobbying
It is absurd that a member of parliament can carry on his or her duties if found to have broken any house rules or laws. In the case of Mercer who states he will stand down at the next general election, smacks of someone who just want to ‘milk the system’ for all he can get. With him hanging on until the next election he will be a lame duck of an MP and consequently cannot act in the best interest of his constituents.
