Petition Action

MPs leaving the parliamentary parties to which they were elected, should legally trigger a by-election.

Additional Information

Eric Joyce & Patrick Mercer have both been forced to leave the parliamemtary parties to which they were elected, but have refused resign their seats in parliament.

We, the undersigned, consider this to be a democratic deficit, as their constituents voted for them as candidates affiliated to a political party to which they no longer belong. We believe that a by-election should be automatically triggered when MPs leave or are dismissed from the parliamentary party to which they were elected.
