automated telephone cold calls
A total ban on automated telephone calls trying to sell us meaningless services. I am fed up with being disturbed by a phone call that, when you pick up the receiver, is silent for a short period before some automated voice irritates the heck out of you with drivel.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
There's already a petition about this issue. We cannot accept a new petition when we already have one about a very similar issue.
You are more likely to get action on this issue if you sign and share a single petition.
There is one entitled "To prohibit unsolicited or random telemarketing calls" - suggesting one would need to opt-in to receive automated calls.
