Keep Northern Museums Open
The Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester, the National Railway Museum in York and the National Media Museum in Bradford are under threat of closure and reduced government funding.
I am petitioning Government to prevent great museums, which provide education and tourism within the regions, closing over a sum of up to £6 million. We have just invested £16 million in sending Major Tom Peake in to space to support the sciences in this country.
I would like the Government to guarantee that funding for these three establishments will adequately meet their needs and therefore allow them all to remain open and free of charge.
