Reducing alcohol harm and cost
In order to reduce the high levels of illness resulting from alcohol problems and reduce the costs to society, any increase in the cost of alcohol should be ringfenced and the proceeds spent on education, prevention and providing adequate services to help people recover. Alcohol services are woefully underfunded, particularly in comparison to drug services. Don't increase tax revenue or company profits under the guise of reducing alcohol use.
