GPS to have extensive training in mental health
I propose that General Practitioners need more training in mental health conditions, especially the less common ones, so they are capable of recognising symptoms, making referrals for psychological assessments, explaining to patients their options for treatment and being able to see patients for appointments between psychiatric appointments. People with severe mental health issues are being undiagnosed or mis-diagnosed, given wrong information and suffering because the lack of knowledge and understanding from GPS.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Training is the responsibility of the Royal College of GPs.
