UK City Resilience With Mayors Accountable For Action

Additional Information

In 1913 10% of people people lived in cities, today 25% of people live in cities and it is expected that by 2015 75% of people will live in cities.

Risk and resilience is surrounded by complacency and apathy in the UK and cities need to take action now to become resilient.

If Mayors of cities are mandated to become the "Nominated Person" who is ultimately responsible for a professional and effective cross city response to a disaster he/she will then take this a lot more seriously.

The Government needs to define this duty of care make mayors accountable to reward on success or discipline on inaction.
