Significantly longer prison sentences for paedophiles and sex offenders
I am calling for the government to start taking child sexual abuse and rape against all individuals a lot more seriously and to start punishing offenders based on the severity of the crimes commited.
Under the current system victims are not getting justice in the courts for the crimes commited against them.
I would like the government to consider the long term psychological, emotional and sometimes physical damage these sex crimes have on their victims and the huge impact they have on their victims in later life.
Many of these victims never live up to their full potential and are subjected to lives of mental illness. They are not able to gain qualifications, hold down jobs or have healthy relationships. Some never come forward and some commit suicide or self harm.
I ask the government to consider significantly increasing the prison sentences served by paedophiles and sex offenders to reflect the severity of the consequences of their actions.
