Bank Shares; Don't sell, distribute.
It is the British taxpayer who has taken the risk in lending our money to bail out the banks and the British taxpayer who has suffered the pain for the incompetance, corruption and short term thinking of the banks and the city.
Instead of selling the British taxpayers share of these banks on the open market, probably at a price lower than their true value (after all the city will not buy them unless they are expecting to make a profit), they should be distributed amongst the British taxpayers. Then the British taxpayers can decide when to sell their shareholding and at what price.
The distribution could be equally across all tax payers or pro-rata,based on tax payed over the period of ownership.
The important thing is that it is the British tax payers, not the city stock brokers, who will have the opportunity to profit from the risk.
