Abandon the illegal EEA application fees.
Today, on 1 July 2013, the Home Office started charging fees to be issued an EEA Residence Card (starting at £55).
Under EU laws, EU citizens and their families have a right to move and reside freely and without restrictions anywhere within the EEA (ref. directive 2004/38/EC).
UK law states that “A document certifying permanent residence and a permanent residence card shall be issued free of charge.” (ref The Immigration (European Economic Area) Regulations 2006) section 18(4) )
We, the undersigned, want nothing more than holding the Home Office to the prevailing EU and UK laws.
In order to do so, we hereby petition the scrapping of the recently introduced EEA Residence Card fees.
