Petition Action

Ban the sale of chinese lanterns

Additional Information

I would like to petition the country to ban the sale of Chinese airborne lanterns.

They are set alight and let go into the night sky and after they are released are totally uncontrolled and can land anywhere.

As has been seen on the news recently one has caused a massive fire at a recycling plant in Smethwick injuring several fire fighters and causing millions of pounds of damage and this is not an isolated incident.

They have been linked with cases of farm animals ingesting parts of them when they fall to earth and they become simply litter when they land.

How long before someone is killed simply so that someone can look at something pretty floating in the night sky.
